We have been in the business of keeping people safe, dry, and warm since 1916 as Maine’s premier roofing and architectural sheet metal contractors. With our team of highly-skilled foremen, installers, laborers, and more, we’re able to provide our customers a virtually unlimited array of custom roofing and sheet metal options to suit all needs.
History

Founded in 1916, Hahnel Bros. Co. first focused on low slope roof designs. Many manufacturers turned to our then-small team when introducing and promoting their products, giving us a competitive edge with industry-leading new technologies and materials. Superior workmanship has set us apart from the start.
While Woodrow Wilson was President, Oscar and Frederick Hahnel bought the Lewiston Metal, Cornice & Skylights Works. In the years since then, Hahnel Bros. Co. has given both business owners and their customers peace of mind about staying dry and warm within their buildings.
With the company’s expansion through a partnership with Bangor Roofing & Sheet Metal Co. during the FDR years, we extended that peace of mind to residential and industrial property owners. In 2005, the official corporate merger of the two companies solidified our reach across sectors and expanded our expertise even further.

In the beginning of 2023, Hahnel Bros. Co. embraced a new style for the brand. While we may look different than before, our mission and values remain the same: to be Maine’s most reliable roofing and sheet metal company, with over 100 years of experience. Alan started his career in 1981 and was named President in 1995. As president, in 2005 Alan oversaw the successful merger of two family owned Roofing & Sheet Metal companies into one entity.
